The authority to issue Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) to Pakistani Nationality Holders belongs to NADRA. A mistake made in the CNIC due to any reason whatsoever needs urgent dealing to avoid any future difficulty for the person. The errors can be related to:

Correction

The correction of a mistake in CNIC can be resolved by filing a suit under section 42 of the Specific Relief Act of 1877 in the concerned Civil Court.

Documents required for correction of name

To file a suit for the correction of name, you will need to submit the following documents:

  • A complaint contains complete details of the petitioner, i.e., name, father’s name date of birth, place of birth, Birth Certificate and educational certificates, etc.
  • CNIC of Father
  • CNIC of Mother
  • Birth Certificate issued by the concerned Union Council
  • Two independent witnesses

To file a suit for the revision of the father’s name or spouse’s name, you will need to submit the following documents

  • A complaint contains complete details of the petitioner, i.e., name, father’s name date of birth, place of birth, Birth Certificate and educational certificates, etc.

  • CNIC of Mother
  • CNIC of Spouse
  • Birth Certificate issued by the concerned Union Council

  • A medical certificate mentioning gender

Procedure for correction

After the case has been submitted, the civil Court issues notification to NADRA to provide a written statement. The evidence of petitioner, along with the documents in his favor are submitted before Court. The Court immediately pronounces Judgment and gives NADRA directions to make the required correction in CNIC of the petitioner.

Correction in Form B

In Pakistan, when a child is born, NADRA issues a certificate of registration from the place he/she is born. This registration certificate is also known as B-Form. It is a document that provides proof for a child’s birth. For the issuance of B-form, both parents of the child must be CNIC holders.

If in the B-Form, there is any mistake regarding the name, father’s name, or date of birth, it is the fundamental right of the child that the error is rectified immediately

An academic certificate is a paper that confirms that a person has completed a specific education from any notable institution. The educational document can be in primary, secondary, or higher education. If any mistake has been made by the educational institute while entering the name, father name, mother name, or date of birth, correction should be made timely fir avoiding inconvenience in the future.
